Decision Maker: Executive Member for Planning and Transport
Decision status: Recommendations Approved (subject to call-in)

To consider the introduction of a 30mph speed limit on Bowyers Lane, Warfield
i. The formal objections received during the statutory consultation process
and the corresponding Officer comments are noted;
ii. The position with regard to local ward Members comments received during
the informal consultation process is noted;
iii. The Borough Solicitor be authorised to bring the Bowyers Lane – 30mph
speed limit Order into effect.
Residents of Bowyers Lane have requested the residential section be subject to a
30mph speed limit rather than the existing 60mph. Speed surveys have shown that a
30mph speed limit in this section of Bowyers Lane would be in line with current
Department of Transport guidelines.
i. To not install the 30mph speed limit would likely be unpopular with local residents, local Council members and Warfield Parish Council, therefore not progressing with the proposals would likely be very unpopular.
ii. Installing a lower speed limit would not be possible as existing average speeds are consistent with Department of Transport guidelines for a 30mph limit, and a lower speed limit is unlikely to be supported by Thames Valley Police.
