Consultant Cost: Voices of Domestic Abuse Survivors

Decision Maker: Executive Director: People

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Decision:

To engage a consultant to undertake a survey of domestic abuse survivors to support the development of a safe accommodation strategy which is a new statutory duty under the Domestic Abuse Act 2021.

Reasons for the decision:

Government have recently launched the above Act which includes a duty to undertake a needs assessment of support in safe accommodation and to prepare a strategy of how any unmet need will be delivered.  As part of the needs assessment, it is important to understand the experience of survivors so that we can retain aspects that work and change/improve aspects that don’t.  Similarly, it is also key to speak to domestic abuse partner organisations and their practitioners who will also have awareness of survivor experiences.

Alternative options considered:

None – as it is a statutory requirement in terms of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021

Wards Affected: (All Wards);

Other reasons / organisations consulted

None.
