Consultation process

Housing authorities are required to consult other public authorities, voluntary organisations and specialist agencies before adopting or modifying a homelessness strategy. A draft homelessness strategy has been prepared for stakeholder consultation prior to the development of the final strategy.

Consultees

These will include voluntary organisations and registered providers, internal housing and welfare services, and other public bodies such as health agencies, Probation, Police, Adults and Children’s Social Care.

Making Representations: In writing to the Executive Director: People.

Financial Impact: The local authority receives grant funding from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities to support action to prevent and relieve homelessness, as well as funding under the Rough Sleeping Initiative, and grant support for Discretionary Housing Payments. Actions proposed in the Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy will be funded from these sources.
