It’s has become a growing problem for residents of
Jenner’s park as to the amount of drivers speeding along the
main two roads, Merlin Way and Sparrowhawk way. Both roads are
heavily used by pedestrians and both roads contain entrances to the
school, as well as provide access to the community centre, shop,
cafe and numerous parks and open areas.
Merlin way has two pedestrian crossings across the chicanes,
however it is still a daily occurrence of drivers well exceeding
the speed limit. Sparrowhawk way has no safe pedestrian crossings,
despite the school being on the road, as well as the parking for
both the shop and cafe on sparrowhawk being on the opposite side to
them.
It is a regular occurrence that residents pets are being killed by
speeding drivers (mainly cats, including most recently local
favourite Milo) and it is only a matter of time before a school
child or resident is next if safety features are not
introduced.
Please can you review reducing the speed limits, as 30mph is too
high for such a high pedestrianised school zone. As well as
introducing speed limiters such as speed bumps to enforce this, and
safer crossings for pedestrians around the school and shops.
