To seek agreement to the content of a revised Local Development Scheme covering the period 2025 to 2028 including other documents providing planning guidance in Bracknell Forest

RESOLVED that the Cabinet approve the Local Development Scheme 2025 – 2028  which will be adopted on the 18th March 2025 and come into effect on 26th March 2025.

Legislation (the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 (as amended))requires the Council tomaintain and publish an up to date LDS with the aim of giving residents, businesses and potential investors a clear indication of the timetable that the Council is working to in respect of the production of local development documents. It helps stakeholders understand when they can get involved in compiling these documents. The current version of the LDS does not contain up to date timetables for the compilation of development plan documents for Bracknell Forest.

The option of not updating the LDS has been considered, but there is a statutory requirement for an up to date LDS. Furthermore, the Government has requested the submission of an up to date LDS. Additionally, not publishing an up to date LDS would mean a lack of clarity for local residents, developers and the business community about the Council’s intentions on producing planning policies and guidance on the implementation of policies.
