Purpose:

For the Executive Member to agree the admission arrangements for 2021/22 for community and voluntary controlled primary and secondary schools

Decision:

       i.          The outcomes of the consultation into admission arrangements is noted.

 

      ii.          Following a public consultation the Published Admissions Number (PAN) is reduced for two community secondary schools, Garth Hill College (from 300 to 270) and Easthampstead Park Community School (from 240 to 210)

    

     iii.          Following recent consultation the Published Admission Number (PAN) for one of the community primary schools, Harman’s Water Primary School is reduced (from 90 to 60)

 

    iv.          Following discussions with the Oxford Diocese and the Governors of the school followed by a public consultation the denominational criterion is removed  from the admission arrangements for Warfield CE Primary School.

 

      v.          Following a public consultation i the annual admission arrangements for 2021/22 as set out in Appendices A to D of the Director: People’s report is agreed, following the outcome of the consultation.

 

Reasons for the decision:

1.   If admission arrangements are required to change there is a statutory duty to consult widely and take views that are expressed into account. This therefore ensures that the admission arrangements for Bracknell Forest Council comply with the statutory School Admissions Code.

 

2.   To ensure that admission arrangements are fit for purpose for the Bracknell Forest community.

 

3.   All admission arrangements must be determined by the Executive Member on or before 28 February 2020.

 

Alternative options considered:

None. There is a statutory process to consult should the admission arrangements need to be changed.
