Purchase of Low Income Family Tracker Software
Decision Maker: Executive Director: People
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Decision:
Decision for the purchase of software to
improve the understanding and strategy linked to financial hardship
of households in the borough. The Low Income Family Tracker (LIFT)
supplied by Policy in Practice allows councils to understand their
low-income cohort in detail, providing both borough wide or ward
level data and also a granular view of poverty metrics and welfare
reform impacts across the population.
Bringing data together, combined with the in-built policy engine
shows the impact of all policy changes on individual households, to
identify residents struggling financially either today or in the
future, design appropriate interventions and track their
effectiveness.
Reasons for the decision:
This software will provide a clearer overview
of households at risk of increasing financial hardship and enable
the council to target support resources more effectively.
The initial purchase of software is for a 12 month period only and
within the existing budget allocations.
Alternative options considered:
Not purchasing the software is an alternative
however this would not be as effective in supporting residents with
financial hardship.
