Against Proposal to Develop Horseshoe Lake as a Country Park

We the undersigned petition the council to Abandon plans to develop Horseshoe Lake as a Country Park

Horseshoe Lake is a well loved area of Sandhurst used by very many people who love its natural feel. It is already a well used space and to develop it as a Country Park risks losing the “natural feel of the site” that the council seems to believe will be increased by “an improved layout, natural materials, extensive landscape enhancements” and “the inclusion of educational information to increase public understanding of the surrounding natural habitats and how to conserve them”

It feels like it will be urbanised country side - already there is a grass space to have a picnic - no need for designated picnic areas; the borough has more than enough coffee locations for meeting up and having coffee - so no need of a cafe - cheaper and more accessible to bring a flask with a picnic; children need the freedom to run play, walk and explore rather than be corralled into another playground.

The water sports activities – the council have proposed that these continue - sadly this seems like an afterthought to the proposal - one of the reason the site is popular with youth groups and local schools already! Please leave Horseshoe Lake as it is - it does not need to be “developed” into a country park - it is already a lovely natural space in the country bordering Sandhurst and Yateley.
