Review of Priorities To review current priorities and set priorities for 2009/10 Minutes: Approximately 1,300 completed Neighbourhood Consultation questionnaires had been received from residents across the Borough 152 responses had been received from residents of Warfield.
Although detailed results and analysis were not yet available the top three concerns raised in Warfield were:
Outside the questionnaire, a number of concerns had been raised over the amount of litter in the area which had originated from the Tesco site. Litter picks of the area in question took place regularly and Warfield Parish Council had been attempting to arrange a meeting with Tesco to discuss the matter. The store had a new manager who had been receptive to recent approaches by the neighbourhood policing team and it was agreed that further approaches would be made to Tesco.
Crime statistics for the period April to December 2008 showed a 44% fall in the number of reported incidents of criminal damage when compared to the same period the previous year. This drop from 52 reported incidents to 29 incidents had been the largest reduction seen across all neighbourhoods. There had been a 39% increase in the number of incidents of serious acquisitive crime for the same period; the highest rise in the borough.
There had been a 19% reduction in reported levels of anti-social behaviour in Warfield during the period April to December 2008 compared to the same period in the previous year:
The Neighbourhood Policing Team’s main concern was reported to be a rise in the levels of burglary. Although it was known that a number of the perpetrators came from outside the Borough there were no real patterns to the burglaries.
Speeding
The Police speed enforcement exercises had been carried out in Temple Way and Harvest Ride and two tickets issued to drivers travelling between 50 and 60mph.
Three sites in Warfield Road were being assessed by the Police Road Traffic Policing Unit for their suitability to conduct enforcement work from.
It was agreed that a significant amount of work was being undertaken to address the concerns of local residents however this was not being effectively communicated to the public and more needed to be done to make people aware of what was happening. It was agreed that the matter would be raised at the next NAG Chairs’ meeting. (Action: Ian Boswell)
