Decision details

Private lease of six car parking spaces - Wellington Business Park car park

Decision Maker: Executive Member for Planning and Transport

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

To consider the introduction of a Traffic Regulation Order that will amend the area of the Wellington Business Park off-street car park to allow the private lease of six car parking spaces.

Decision:

      i.        That the formal objection received during the statutory consultation process and the corresponding Officer comments are noted.

ii.        That the position regarding local ward Members comments received during the informal consultation process was noted.

iii.        That the Borough Solicitor be authorised to make the Traffic Regulation Order in relation to the proposals as shown on the Plan in Annex A of the Director: Place, Planning and Regenerations report.

Reasons for the decision:

1.    The Wellington Business Car Park is underutilised, and the Council has a duty to maximise the usage of its property assets.

2.    The proposal enables the re-development of 188 Dukes Ride, Crowthorne to provide 3 residential units on a brownfield site which would not be possible otherwise (all other potential alternatives for parking provision for the proposed development were exhausted with the Council’s Planning Department).

3.    The consideration agreed for leasing the 6 car parking spaces provides the Council with a significant windfall payment which will be used to fund other Council capital projects.

Alternative options considered:

Not to proceed with the private lease of the six spaces. This would result in the car park continuing to operate as it does at present.

Interests and Nature of Interests Declared:

None

Wards Affected: Little Sandhurst and Wellington;

Financial Impact: Within existing budget.

Declarations: None

Subject to Urgent Proceedings: No

Making Representations: In writing to the Director: Place, Planning and Regeneration.
