Purpose:

To approve the School Places Plan 2011 - 2016.

Decision:

That the School Places Plan 2011 – 2016, including the 2011-based forecasts, be approved.

Reasons for the decision:

The provision of school places remains an essential part of the Council’s organisation and planning process and enables the Council to meet its statutory duties in relation to school places. The School Places Plan is produced as a result of an annual review of future housing plans, numbers on roll and demographic data.  It includes forecasts of school intake and total numbers on roll and calculates the impact on places.

Alternative options considered:

It is imperative that forecasts of numbers and places are produced.  There is no such imperative to produce and publish a plan, but it is good practice to do so.
