To outline the proposal to replace the
existing pay on foot (on exit) parking equipment in the three town
centre multi storey car parks with pay by plate (on arrival)
infrastructure.
RECOMMENDED to the Executive Member for Economic Development and
Regeneration that the S&B infrastructure be retained for the remaining lifespan of the equipment.
There are pros and cons in relation to switching out the existing car parking
technology. Whilst the pros are easily quantifiable (cost saving, improvements in app
technology etc.) the cons are less structured. The impact on the customer
experience, particularly in the Avenue car park, is significant and is a potential risk.
As such it is recommended that the switch is not made at this time.
